West Tripoli power plant project work underway

The General Electricity Company of Libya (GECOL) said work on West Tripoli power plant with a capacity of 670 megawatts has started.
GECOL said the project is part of the efforts to increase power generation capacity to decrease outages, adding that West Tripoli power plant project is operated by Germany’s Siemens and Turkey’s ANKA, as part of three power plants’ plan that include also Misrata power plant with 640 megawatts capacity and Tobruk plant with 740 megawatts.
GECOL called for uniting efforts in the public and private sectors as well as other fields of business and work to preserve the electricity network.
GECOL indicated that Libyans need to understand the position of its work and efforts until these urgent projects end and joint the network in March 2022.
