Tunis Air to resume flights to Tripoli in last week of April

Posted – 12th April 2021

Tunis Air flights to Libya will resume in the last week of April, Tunisian Transport and Logistics Minister Moez Chakchouk has been quoted as saying by Tunisian media.

Minister Chakchouk had been speaking on Monday to the Committee on the Affairs of Tunisians Abroad.

The first flight will be by Tunis Air from Tunis Carthage airport to Tripoli’s Mitiga airport and by Tunis Express from Sfax to Mitaga three times a week. These will become daily scheduled flights gradually – he was quoted as saying.

The statement by the Minister is a reiteration of his earlier announcement during his hearing in the Tunisian parliament in March.

Regular false announcements of resumption of flights

It must be borne in mind that on many occasions over the last few years an announcement has been made about the resumption of Tunis Air flights to Libya – with no results.

Libya pressuring European neighbours to resume flights

Malta has also been studying closely the resumption of flights between the two countries, and the Libyan government has been putting pressure on its other closest European/Mediterranean neighbours, Italy and Greece, to lift the EU flight ban and resume flights with Libya.
