Russia Is Discussing With Libyan Authorities Reopening Its Embassy In Tripoli

Moscow, 18 March, 2021 (Lana) – The Russian Foreign Ministry spokeswoman, Maria Zakharova, announced Thursday, that the Russian Chargé d’Affairs to Libya discussed with Libyan officials the reopening of the Russian embassy in Tripoli.

Zakharova said in statements carried by the Russian news agency Sputnik that the Russian Chargé d’Affairs was invited to attend the swearing-in ceremony by members of the Libyan National Unity Government, where he met with Prime Minister Abdel Hamid Dabaiba and a number of ministers of the new Libyan government.

 Zakharova indicated that during the talks that took place, the two countries’ readiness to resume cooperation in various fields was confirmed. The spokeswoman stated that in 2014 embassy staff were evacuated to neighboring Tunisia for security reasons.
