The General Syndicate of Oil (GSO) has demanded the relevant authorities to implement the decision to increase the salaries in the oil sector, threatening to take further measures if their demands are not met.

In a statement Wednesday, the GSO called on officials to clarify the reasons hindering the implementation of the decision confirming it had reached out to all concerned parties and decision-makers, but its demands went ultimately unheeded.

The GSO warned it would take all measures to claim its “lost seven years” of rights. It threatened to reduce oil production gradually and bring it to a halt if forced to do so.

It is noteworthy that the General National Congress had approved Law No. 642 of 2013 to increase the salaries of workers in the oil and medical insurance sector, but the resolution has not been implemented to date despite repeated requests.
